Versatility in colour - INOX-SPECTRAL®-process

In Germany, INOX-COLOR colours stainless steel products according to the INOX-SPECTRAL® process up to a dimension of 6,000 x 1,200 x 2,000 mm (L x W x H).

In addition to refining stainless steel sheets, the INOX-SPECTRAL® process is also perfectly suited for the colour design of other premium stainless steel products.

The procedure

Electrochemical process: The INOX-SPECTRAL® process is a computer-controlled electrochemical process; no colour or pigments – coat of lacquer or any other coating as well - are applied, the transparent chromium oxide layer is built up.

Interference effect: The interference effect is used; depending on the thickness of the applied chromium oxide layer, the composition of the light spectrum and the angle of view, different colour effects develop.

Stainless steel character: Due to the small thickness of the chromium oxide layer, the structure of the coloured surfaces has an undiminished effect; retained are not only the functional material properties, but also the optical quality inherent in the stainless steel.

Resistance of coloured stainless steel surfaces

Corrosion resistance: The corrosion resistance of the basic material used is decisive. Although the chromium oxide layer built up during the colouring process is an improvement from corrosion-technical view, in principle a material quality is to be chosen according to the expectable strain.

Resistance to light, weathering and aging: Coloured stainless steel surfaces, do not age, they do not get chapped, do not bleach and do not peel off.

Temperature resistance: The coloured surface is resistant to temperatures up to 200 ° Celsius. Short-term exceeding of temperature of about 100° Celsius can generally be endured, but persistent discolourations occur during continuous exceedances.

Mechanical resistance: The chromium oxide layer built during colouring is organically bonded with the base material and is elastic. Deformations (bending, edging, pressure forming and deep drawing), which do not affect the basic material itself, do not damage the surface. The resistance to abrasive stress is limited due to the low layer thickness of the interference film.

This is the standard selection of all of the colours that can be produced using the INOX-SPECTRAL®-process:

and the special color black

Intermediate colour shades are possible. For production reasons, minimum quantities are required.

In spite of sophisticated reproduction technology, the colour impressions can only be shown approximately. Sample cards with original patterns are available.

Grinding, glass bead blasted, polished or patterned: stainless steel sheets are ideally suited for colouring according to the INOX-SPECTRAL®-process. Here you can find a small selection of the numerous possibilities. All INOX-COLOR surfaces can be displayed in colour.

Variations in colour

Process: Stainless steel sheets are coloured according to the INOX-SPECTRAL®-process. A subsequent tip grinding makes the surface more resistant to mechanical stress (e.g. in highly frequented areas such as elevators, sales counters, lobbies, etc.).

Our team has a long-term experience in the finishing of wire mesh. Metal fabric and wire mesh provide a variety of design possibilities in interior and exterior.

Expanded metals

Expanded metal is produced by simultaneous incising in the transverse direction, while the material is stretched in length. We gladly treat micro mesh, large mesh and web mesh according to individual specifications, e.g. with the INOX-SPECTRAL®-process or electro-polished, to achieve perfect visual effects.
